If you encounter a "shopping session expired" error message when attempting to checkout on your Steelcase Exchange site to your eProcurement system, using Microsoft Edge, it is likely that Edge is attempting to checkout using what is known as Internet Explorer Mode (IE Mode.) You can test if this is the case by attempting to checkout using one of our supported browsers (Google Chrome or Apple Safari) to see if the error persists.
IE mode is enforced in two main ways: at the browser level using browser settings or at the company level using group policies.
To disable IE mode at the Microsoft Edge browser level:
- Click the ellipses (...) in the upper right-hand corner of the Edge Browser and scroll down to click the Settings option.
- On the left side of the Settings page click the Default browser option.
- Under the Internet Explorer compatibility section select Don't allow from the drop-down menu under the Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) option.
If you are unable to modify this option, this option is not present, or if you still experience this error after disabling this setting it's likely that your company has this setting enforced at the company level via a group policy for Microsoft Edge. You will need to reach out to your internal IT team for further troubleshooting.
Steelcase Support does not have the ability to manage this setting. You will need to work with your IT team for further guidance.
